Keyword density is a combination of the number of times a keyword or a keyword phrase, in proportion with other words, appears on a Web page.

The meaning of keyword prominence closeness of your main keywords to the beginning of the text, it means your main keywords should be included in meta tags as well as first heading, first paragraph of text, alt tags etc. Keyword density is also important and somehow holds greater priority over prominence; however both are needed to rank better. Keyword density is the number of times a keyword is repeated in the text of a web page. It is generally expressed in percentage. If you want to rank better in Google than go for density and if you are concentrating on Yahoo then go for prominence.
